SOOC - Facing Myself

I admit to being completely nervous about taking part in Jessica's Facing Myself photo challenge because it requires me to step in front of the camera and I've gotten very comfortable with being behind it.  It's become somewhat of a security blanket for me, I think.  I have a camera of some sort with me no matter where I go.  But it's sort of a catch 22 because I also find myself complaining that I'm never in the picture on family vacations or any other events for that matter.  I'm frivolous about catching every moment of my kids' lives in pictures, but have very limited documentation of my own.  So I took the plunge and have decided I'm going to participate in this challenge.  I need to participate in this challenge.  However, I'm finding it just that - a challenge.  I've tried several "creative" ways to capture a photo of myself and most have been fails.  I've got some brainstorming to do.

So I resorted to setting the timer on my camera and taking these.  They aren't the best because I couldn't be behind the camera to adjust everything and check the lighting, etc.  But I have a couple of pics of my favorite boy and me.  And these are SOOC so I'm linking up with Slurping Life today as well for SOOC Saturday.

I think you did really great with this! They are good!! I have the same complaint that I am usually the one taking the pic and E is going to think mom was never there ;) Derek is starting to take a few more but...you know how that goes.

    Sweet sweet pics!!

Great pics, Courtney! Visiting you from Lady Bloggers Tea Party. Will now follow too!

I'm the same - always complaining I'm not in enough pics with my kids (I have 3 boys), but then when I'm actually in them, I'm not comfortable with how I look! *sigh*

Beautiful shots. Great idea to use your timer.

I am in very few family photos, and like it that way. I have never liked having my picture taken. I need to work on that aversion.

These are precious and you will treasure them! I've struggled with the same thing, never being in many family photos but taking them all. I try to hand my husband the camera more these days and just see what he gets. Stopping over from SOOC Saturday and I'm your newest follower.

Hi, Tara and thanks. I don't think I have ever really minded having my picture taken but once I see the picture (at least after having 2 children) I'm so critical of myself. Glad you stopped by today. Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

WELCOME! So glad you stopped by today. Looking forward to seeing your SOOC shot. Yeah, I've had to consciously shove the camera into my husband's hand a time or two while on vacation just so it looks like I was actually there. Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

I can definitely relate to having very little documentation because you're usually behind the camera. My mom was the same way and now that she's been deceased many years, I wish there were so many more. I try to get a few of myself here or there (even if I ask a stranger to take a pic and/or am not happy with the way I look) just so there's evidence I was there, and happy, lol! I love your pics of you two!!

Courtney I know all too well of not being in front of the camera. I lwould rather be behind it any day.
Our children need documentation when they are older of their much loved mommies though.

You look beautiful and happy and your children will treasure these in the future!

Oh, I love the first one! You both look so happy :)
I hate having my picture taken and can't even imagine trying to get a good one of myself...you've been doing great!

I'm here from Jess's "facing myself" challenge. I'd like to take part in it, but like you said it is definitely a "challenge" for me.

You did a wonderful job with the pics even if you weren't able to control all of the settings.

Great pics! You know that my foray into using the timer this past week was, well, not so good. Hope you're having a great weekend with the family.
