Some News About Around the Town Tuesday

Several weeks ago my bloggy pal, Jes and I rolled out a new blog hop called Around the Town Tuesday.  We were very excited about it and thought it would be something unique and somewhat encouraging to bloggers to get out into their communities as well as learn about fellow bloggers' communities, especially since warm weather is upon us.  We got lots of positive responses on our blog posts about it, in our BlogFrog communities, Twitter, etc. and we still get great emails and comments about it.  However, the linking up has been pretty scarce and it's an awful lot of work on our part to prepare the posts, the schedule, post reminders, promote.... you get the picture.  So for now, Jes and I have decided to put it on hold and re-evaluate the blog hop.  We're going to talk about it, maybe change it up a bit, marinate in our thoughts and could very possibly bring it back - if there's any interest.  So if you are interested in participating in this blog hop in the future, please leave a comment or shoot us an email.  Constructive criticism is certainly welcome.  We'd definitely love to hear from you about how we could improve it, change it up, whatever.  But if there's no feedback, it will most likely be discontinued.

Have a great day y'all and thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

i just have one thought... (but i really have no clue what i'm talking about... so, feel free to take it or leave it!) with it being something that people have to prepare in advance (i.e. - taking certain pics around town) i think it makes it difficult for people to hop on board. a lot of people, i've noticed, blog the day of and don't do much planning for it. maybe that is why the response was limited. if you decide to discontinue it as a blog hop, you could keep doing it yourself and i think that would be fabulous, too! i used to do miscellany monday for months all by my lonesome before i opened it up... and, i was hesitant to do so.

Thanks, Carissa! I'm thinking the same thing. I think the more random and last minute it is the better it seems to go over. I'm still thinking on it. I haven't really decided what I'm going to do just yet.

Bummer... I was out of town two of the Tuesdays (and I just wasn't organized enough to get my post ready in advance and set it to post!) and I thought I'd participate and add links to the two that I missed in my post for the next one.

Here's an idea (as the previous poster said, take it or leave it!)-- maybe instead of having an "assignment" for a particular week, just have a long list of ideas (parks, restaurants, historic homes, etc.) and have readers/participants just choose one from the list every other Tuesday. It might be easier for people who have time/weather/etc. constraints because if they didn't have a chance to get out & take pictures of a particular thing, maybe there's something else on the list that you already have pictures on the computer that you can just pull up and post! I hope it continues... I'm going to go ahead and post (even though I can't link!) my "best food" and "historic places" posts on my blog today!

Hi Courtney, this is my first time on your blog and was excited when I saw the Around the town on Tuesdays menu header. I just started my own blog and I just received my first DSLR last week so I got very excited because for me it would be perfect....I could practice with my camera and participate in my first blog hop. If you do decide to start it back up again I would be happy to be a part of the fun!!
