miscellany monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Monday.  We meet again.  All too soon.  Grab some coffee and get settled in for some very random thoughts.  My mind is not quite right yet this morning so there is really no telling where this will go.  Just bear with me.

{ONE}  It's raining and I love it.  It has been so hot and dry here in the Memphis area and I have been watering my plants 2 or 3 times a day, desperately willing them to survive.  This rain was much needed and much welcomed.

{TWO}  We spent our weekend in our boat on the lake.  I say lake, but we've actually been going to the TN River.  It was a glorious weekend and we all love being on the water.  The kids sleep like the dead at the end of a long day on the boat.

{THREE}  My baby boy starts preschool in one short month and I'm freaking out a little.  Every time I think about it I get a little teary.  He's going to love it and it's going to be so good for him.  I will cry getting him ready that morning.  I'll cry taking his first day of school pictures.  I'll cry all the way to the school and cry as I drive away.  How did we get here?  Do we really have a child starting school already?

{FOUR}  Here it is.  You knew it was coming.  Monday = laundry day.  I have yet to get my tush in gear and start my laundry.  But it's there.  Waiting for me.  Like a lion waiting for a zebra.

{FIVE}  I have tons of posts to write - crafty, product review, recipe... I'm just A LOT behind and not really sure how that happened.  I have, however, begun getting caught up on my family blog.  I posted my kids' pictures from the photo shoot I did to document Presley's 18 month milestone.  Keeping up with two blogs, two kids, a house, a husband and a dog is a little tiring.  But I am blessed.  At least I have all these "things" to keep up with.

{SIX}  I recently hit 200 followers and I am humbled.  Thanks to all of you for tuning in every day to see what this small town girl from Kentucky has to say.  Blessings to you all!

    Hi,

I wish it would rain here. It started for like two minutes and then it stopped again - now we are back to sunshine on a hot summer's day ;)

Being on the TN river with your boat sounds like the perfect weekend. What kind of boat do you have? As a child we went sailing a lot and I love it. I loved when the wind hit my face and I loved sleeping on the boat being rocked to sleep by the waves. It was just wonderful!

Have a blessed Monday and I really hope that your laundry will be done quickly!
    Blessings,
    Kate

Yes, that first day of preschool is hard on you, but he will love it. My Sprout grew so much this past year at preschool, both with social skills and learning. Now, part way through the summer, he keeps asking if he can go back!

Hi, Kate! We have a 2008 Stingray, open bow boat. We've enjoyed it so much! I have never been sailing. Sounds dreamy!

Thanks- starting the laundry now. Blessings to you as well!

That's gonna be Keegan, I'm sure. He is a social butterfly - loves being around people, especially other kids so next summer will be hard on him not having school to look forward to, I bet. But then comes kindergarten. {SIGH} I feel like I just brought him home from the hospital.

Happy Monday! Rem's first day of preschool was hard on me, but when he came home with wonderful stories to tell and was so happy it was worth it~ he loves it, and I have (finally) started to enjoy the time as well. I feel like it's done nothing but rain here... we're finally done with it, and I'm thankful! Have fun doing laundry~ I'm in the same boat, but I don't think I detest it as much as you! =)

I know what you mean about them starting school. My oldest starts middle school and my baby goes to kindergarten. I'm going to be alone for hours. I swear, it feels like they were just born 15 minutes ago!

I definitely detest laundry. The dryer is buzzing in my ear now and I'm cringing. I know that Keegan will absolutely be thrilled to go to school and love every minute of it. I'm trying not to ruin it for him with me teariness. Mike's already warned me about crying in front of him that day. Keegan will feel like he needs to stay home and take care of me. Gotta be strong!

Happy Monday! It's hard to send our kids off to school. Seems like it was just yesterday when they were just a bundle of love in our arms. So thankful you get some rain. Good luck with the laundry. If you read my post, I can manage to do the laundry, but folding it and putting it away, well I'd rather not. Have a wonderful day!

I actually emailed Highland Heights and asked because I started to worry about them not receiving the registration form/fee since I hadn't heard anything. Their open house is Aug. 5th and his first day is Aug. 10th.

I'd be freaking out a little too! My youngest is going to be three next month and I'm freaking out about that... I couldn't imagine him going off to pre-k yet (which will be next year!). Good luck, you know he's going to love it and you'll get to enjoy him telling you all the exciting things he did for the day!

  • At July 12, 2010 at 4:38 PM , Anonymous Courtney said...

    Exactly. It's comforting to know he's so outgoing and social. He'll have so many great stories to tell when he gets home. But still freaking out nonetheless. {SIGH}

Awww you'll be okay momma, after the first couple days you'll enjoy having him at school awhile and the best part is when they get home and they seem to have grown a bit, or they have a new bit of information that they gathered from being out and about in the world. When they are next to you constantly sometimes you miss the growth because it happens gradually but when they are away a bit it's neat because you get to see the difference!

And laundry...bleh. We are leaving for a camping trip tomorrow so I made my girls (age 11 and 12) clean their rooms and bring all their laundry down...I should have started last week sometime!!!!
