My New Obsession

It's true. I crush or obsess over things quite easily. The iPad is no exception. When I saw the very first advertisement for this baby I knew I wanted one. I begged the husband to get me one.  The conversation went something like this:

     Me:  I need one.

     Mike:  What for?

     Me:  I don't know really.  I just need it!

     Mike:  Uh huh.  {wink}

Okay, so maybe I didn't really need one, but it looked like all kinds of fun.  I giant iPhone!  And at the time I was truly obsessed with my iPhone - still am.  I'm not sure what I'd do without it.  It accompanies me all over the house.  Leave the house without it?  FUGETABOUTIT!  Doesn't happen.  On the rare occasion that it does, I curl up in the fetal position and cry like a baby.

I put myself on Apple's list to be notified once they started taking orders for the iPad.  I wanted to know about it ASAP!  I'd talk about it regularly with the husband and would bring up all the reasons we needed to own one.  It worked.

We are the proud parents of an Apple iPad.  It's primarily mine but Mike uses it as well when I'm watching one of my corny shows.  It really is like a giant iPhone but so much more convenient.  I've blogged from this baby (if you haven't noticed), I've edited pics with it, and of course there are the regular apps - Tweetdeck, Facebook, Google, news, and games galore.  New apps are coming out every day.

A couple of drawbacks.... still no flashplayer.  I think this is a huge hit for Apple and it needs to be corrected.  There are a couple of sites I can't navigate through, like BlogFrog.  I can read the discussions but can't respond to them.  If you are a big Microsoft Office person, you're screwed.  There are no Microsoft apps.  Not sure if there will be, but there is some sort of alternative.  And if you are a MAC user then there is Pages.  Since I have no need for Microsoft Office, this is not a problem for me.

Depending on what your intentions are for the iPad, it can be a great tool to have.  I only use it for recreation purposes.  If you are wanting it for business, it may not be a great idea to replace your notebook just yet.

Want to hear something great?  Husband has the opportunity to win his own through his company.  Twins?
